I stumbled into photography as a way to share my experiences with others, as is the case for most people who pick up a camera for the first time. But now instead of me just bringing my camera places, my camera has brought me places. With my insatiable appetite for travel, I spend a lot of time on the road, usually ending up in interesting locations with interesting people. With some sort of camera at my side at all times, my photos tend to be spontaneous documentation of whatever it is that is going on around me. The goal is to tell a visual story that will inspire others to go out and experience the world for themselves. There is a lot to see out there and a camera isn’t always going to do it justice. - Laura Austin

Testimonials:

“Laura Austin is the archetype of the modern artist. Not limited to a single medium, the self-taught photographer and journalist blends a contemporary eye with a nostalgic perspective on style and composition.

Hailing from the mountains of Colorado and later Vermont, the now Southern California-based action sports debutante continues to evolve her fast maturing portfolio of work and grow her circles of influence through highly regarded blogs and columns including Radcollector, Burton Snowboards, TheGoodLife, and her full-time position as the Online Editor at Snowboarder Magazine.

Expect to see young LAustin continue a meteoric rise into the stratosphere of pop cultural curators.” - James Sullivan USA Today/BNQT.com

"It’s hard to come up with new ways to talk about the same shit. For journalists, artists and raconteurs of 2012, it’s an everyday challenge to be original. We need to work on dozens of platforms, simultaneously integrating photography, words, video, graphics and code into a larger than life digital storytelling strategy, just so we can be heard, just to break out and through from the rest of the noise.

My favorite thing in the world is when I discover a young, stellar storyteller who makes me feel, in the most contemporary of ways – through my iPhone, through a blog post or even on Facebook, really! – that she’s whispering a legend in my ear, all curled up by a bonfire. Meet Laura Austin." - Vivianne Lapointe Livefastmag.com
